Chairman of Rural Electrification Agency (REA), Federal Ministry of Power, Hon. Danlami Mohammed Kurfi has hailed the Democracy Day speech of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing it as a sign that the president was ready to serve all Nigerians, not minding their political affiliation, tribe or religion.
Kurfi, a former member of House of Representatives who represented Dutsin-ma/Kurfi Federal Constituency at the National Assembly said, “The text of the president’s speech showed a democrat and compassionate leader who is desirous of making a success of his administration in the interest of the ordinary citizens.”
This was contained in a statement he personally signed and made available to the media on Monday June, 12, 2023.
Kurfi commended President’s resolve to cushion the effect of the fuel subsidy removal, adding that President has laid a good foundation to consolidate his victory and win the hearts of Nigerians who believe in his good intentions and sound socio-economic policies.
The REA Chairman said; “Nigerians, including those who voted and did not vote for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu were eagerly waiting for his democracy day speech were satisfied with President’s position.
“The speech, clearly shows that President Tinubu is ready to govern Nigeria. It is a sign that the president is ready to live above board and lead a government that accommodates all, irrespective of their religion, political party or the ethnic group they belong.
“Seeing the President reminisce on how Nigeria has fared in the last 30 years of its democratic experience and military unconstitutional interference showed his penchant for democratic governance, rule of law and ultimately a clear display of perfect will to renew lost hopes, engender succor and tranquility across board.
“It is my prayer that the Almighty Allah will grant our President the courage and wherewithal to make a success of his administration and further deepen democratic governance, especially in a confederation like Nigeria by sustaining national cohesion and development.”
Speaking further, Kurfi, added:
“I once served as Deputy Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum Resources Downstream, so I have a fair idea of how the entire petroleum industry value chain functions, the decision to put a stop to the subsidy regime was very well thought out and in the best interest of the comman man.
“Interestingly, President Tinubu in his ingenious disposition has made a resolve to cushion the effect of the subsidy removal, that is indeed leadership with vision and compassion; he must be applauded for genuinely putting the downtrodden into consideration in his policy implementation.
“My joy therefore is that Nigerians are now feeling his leadership qualities, political acumen, and passion to serve our great nation with the commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s economy, capable of encouraging local manufacturers and at the same time with a strategy to bring back people in diaspora and manufacturers that have left the country by providing an enabling environment and incentives.”
Kurfi said the events of the past which was midwifed by Obasanjo, Yar’Adua, Jonathan and Buhari proved to the entire whole world that the black people of Africa were capable of piloting their own affairs and that Tinubu remains the best man for the job to make Nigeria great again and uphold its democratic virtues.
