Popular Gospel Musician, Omije Ojumi, Dies at 45

A popular gospel musician, Bunmi Akinnanu Adeoye, known as Omije Ojumi has died at the age of 45.

She was born on November 19, 1979. News of her death filtered out late Tuesday night.

The musician, who abandoned her banking career for music had been reportedly sick. She died from a prolonged illness associated with her leg.

Omije Ojumi had publicly called for prayers and divine healing over the leg ailment.

A video of Omije Ojumi had surfaced online from a church service at G. F. David Ministries in Ibadan, the Oyo State, capital, where she was seen seated with her leg stretched out while prayers were offered in 2025.

During the service, a cleric disclosed that the singer had been experiencing persistent bleeding in her leg, prompting intense prayers for healing.

Bunmi Akinnanu Adeoye rose to fame in the early 2000s after leaving a banking career to pursue music.

Her nickname: Omije Oju mi (Tears of my Eyes) came from her debut album.

Her other prominent albums included Dabira, Alatilehin, Ma Sunkun Mo, and Testimony.

She studied Industrial Relations and Personnel Management at the Lagos State University (LASU) after attending Lagos State Polytechnic.

She was said to have worked in the banking industry for over a decade before transitioning to gospel music.
