The FCT Police Command has debunked report in some sections of the social media that “Omoyele Sowore was shot by a female Assistant Commissioner of Police” at the Unity Fountain in Abuja.
In a statement, the Command Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Yusuf Mariam, said contrary to the report, Police Operatives professionally restored calm at the Unity Fountain, following attempts by a group of protesters to incite public disturbance.
She said the protesters who went on ramapage were resisted by Police operatives in order to prevent them from causing a breakdown of law and order.
Mariam said there was no record of such incident as of the time of “this release”.
She enjoined residents to remain calm and law-abiding while reaffirming its commitment towards the protection of life and property within the FCT.
