I know for a fact that no Siemens official received Mr. Peter Obi in Egypt. In typical Obi style of playing to the gallery, he again lied in the trending video where he spoke about his visit to Egypt and what Siemens told him on their supposed frustration with the government of Nigeria.

There are issues of simple common sense and protocol here to begin with. A random person or politician from Nigeria will not visit a power plant in Cairo and Siemens will begin to tell him/her about the details of their contract in Nigeria. Peter Obi is not a party to the Siemens-FG power deal. He does not have any locus to warrant Siemens receiving him in Egypt.

We know that Peter Obi didn’t go to Egypt to under study the success of Siemens project. A Presidential candidate on a study tour of power project should have done so with at least one or two experts in the field. In any case, It has been established he travelled to Egypt for Afrexim Bank Annual General Meeting and simply went on sightseeing to a power plant for photo ops. If Peter Obi is truly interested in the Siemens-FGN power deal, a visit to Ministry of Power in Abuja would have saved him the trouble.

The attached pictures were taken March 28, 2022 during a visit by the Minister of Power and his officials to Siemens manufacturing plant in Germany to inspect some of the equipment in the first phase of the Power Road map. Power equipment are not bought off the shelf contrary to the impression Mr. Obi created in his trending video. From the time a deal is signed, money is sourced and equipment are produced to installation will sure have some time lag. It is therefore not true that nothing has happened since the Federal Government signed the deal with Siemens 3year ago.

In the pictures taken during inspection visit to Germany are Minister of Power, Engr. Abubakar Aliyu and CEO of Siemens Energy, Mr Christian Bruch. Also in the pictures are Managing Director of FGN Power Company, a special purpose company to drive the project, Mr Kenny Anuwe, Siemens Energy CEO for Africa, Nadja Haakansson and my friend, Dayo Orolu.
