The Ondo State Government has unveiled an official website dedicated to activities marking the 50th anniversary of the creation of the state, as part of efforts to ensure broad participation and real-time access to information for citizens at home and in the diaspora.

The website, www.ondois50.com, serves as a central digital hub for programmes, updates and engagements lined up for the Ondo@50 Golden Jubilee celebrations.

The initiative is the brainchild of Kayode Falade, a digital media guru, who conceived the platform as a one-stop destination for Ondo State indigenes and stakeholders to follow every aspect of the anniversary activities.

Key features of the platform include the Ondo@50 Radio, which streams live broadcasts, interviews and special programmes celebrating the history, culture, achievements and future aspirations of the Sunshine State.

Also hosted on the website is the Ondo@50 mobile application, which is currently available for download directly from the website.

Although the app is not yet accessible on the Google Play Store, users can download it via the “Download App” option on the site.

Beyond the digital platforms, Falade has also produced a special theme song for Ondo@50, created to commemorate the Golden Jubilee.

The song highlights key milestones in the state’s journey and showcases the Amotekun Corps as one of Ondo State’s landmark initiatives, projecting it as a major security framework that has contributed to safeguarding the South-West region.

Falade’s involvement in the Ondo@50 project is rooted in a track record of creative innovation and community service. In 2020, he launched Akure Radio, a community service radio initiative designed to inform, educate and engage residents at the grassroots level.

The platform, which operated until 2021, earned him recognition and an award from the Akure community under the Deji of Akure, in acknowledgment of its contribution to community development and information dissemination.

The combined digital, creative and community-focused initiatives are designed to ensure that Ondo State indigenes, both within Nigeria and across the diaspora, remain connected to every aspect of the Golden Jubilee celebrations.

The launch of the website and accompanying multimedia content underscores the growing use of technology, creativity and community-driven ideas to promote inclusiveness, preserve collective memory and project Ondo State’s heritage and development narrative to a global audience as it marks 50 years of statehood.
