Ondo State FA Full Council on Saturday gives its final nod for commencements of U-18 Football tourneys in the 18 Local Governments in the State.
Briefing newsmen after the meeting of Chairmen of Local Football Councils held in Ondo State Capital, Akure on Saturday, Ondo FA Chairman, Dele Ajayi stated that approval had been granted to its Technical Committee to arrange 2021 Edition of FA U-18 Football Competitions in the State.
In his own words, Dele Ajayi, former NFF Executive Member said that, “there is new reawakening in grassroots football developments based on new templates or huge encouragements provided by the Association which led to incredible upsurges of competitions in all nooks and crannies of the State. I am hopeful that all these landmarks scenarios would accelerate grassroots football growths and developments. This is the first time in the history of the State private sectors had taken the bull by the horn in complimenting Government’s efforts at promoting football at grassroots levels holistically which is a welcome development. I pray this unprecedented initiative is sustained”.
“I am highly confident that FA Technical Committee headed by the former Sunshine Stars gaffer, Henry Abiodun would do everything humanly possible in organising hitch free competitions across the State to the admirations of stakeholders. We are all going to be beneficiaries of these loudable efforts since FA including its affiliates and State Government would benefit immensely from deals brokered through transfers of players to foreign clubs. This translates to the fact that we cannot do it alone. We would continue to seek collaborative efforts of the State Government in achieving all our tasks being partners in progress. I therefore solicit cooperations and support of all stakeholders towards the realisation of the goals of this programme in the State”, he stated emphatically.
Also speaking after FA Council’s meeting, Technical Committee’s Chairman, Henry Abiodun expressed readiness of his Committee in arrangging successful events in the State. He posited that in achieving this goal, plans were in the offing in enhancements of capacities of coaches who would handle the competitions affairs through coordinated training programmes.
According to Henry Abiodun, the Technical Committee would strive hard in securing quality players within and outside school systems in the State pointing out that standards wouldn’t be compromised, insisting that only players within the bracket would be patronised towards getting quality youthful players who would be marketed to play professional football abroad and also represent the State in future competitions.
