Ondo @ 50: Let There Be a Developmental Master-plan for the State- Akinbobola Advises Aiyedatiwa

The former Special Adviser on Political and Mobilization Matters in the Government of Dr Olusegun Mimiko, and presently the Chairman of Egbé Atunluse Socio/Political Organization, Otunba Akin Akinbobola has advocated that the governor of Ondo state, Hon; Dr Lucky Aiyedatiwa should strategize and have a developmental plan that will serve like a developmental roadmap for the advancement of Ondo state, such document which will be like a developmental compass for even governments that will come behind the present government.

Akinbobola, while fielding questions from Journalists in Akure, the state capital over the state of things in the state most especially, that the state is celebrating 50th anniversary of it’s creation.

The Chairman of Egbé Atunluse group frowned at the state of development across the state 50 years after it was created, especially when it is compared to what is obtainable in other Southwest and Southeast states that are also 50 years.

” there for a comprehensive developmental arrangement on ground for the state that will be acceptable to all and sundry so that the idea of persons rulling and governing the people with levity will be put to check, and so that government can be evaluated based on the document, presently Ondo state judging by the quantum of funds and God’s blessings with mineral resources that is at its disposal ought to have been very much more developed than it is today”

“We need to put in place a blue-print of what the state should be in the next 30 years so that we can move forward faster and with measured steps that will take us to very developed level”

However, on issue of unity, the leader of the group, emphasized that, it is unfortunate that what the founding fathers of the state conceptualized has not been achieved via a vis having a people united for purpose of advancement and growth. He advocated for an all inclusive town hall meetings purposely to unite our people and also drive overall people – centered development.

He further canvased for a conference of stakeholders to cut across every strata of human endeavor, that will brain-storm on SunShine state policy on education, health delivery, economy, infrastructural development, Agricultural development, Sports development, Security architecture, and other aspect of life that can be of greater and immense benefits to the state.

” looking at the ways things are going, the governor needs to call a stakeholders forum devoid of politics, to share knowledge on moving the state forward” Akinbobola said.

The Founder of the Atunluse group also hinted that “if the robust human potentials within the state is galvanized outside political lines, in an all inclusive manner, I’m sure the vision and mission of the founding fathers which centred on rapid development can be set in motion and can also be achieved within the space of 15 years from now”.

He praised leaders like our revered Chief Adekunle Ajasin, Chief Adebayo Adefarati, Dr Olusegun Agagu and Dr Olusegun Mimiko who at some point had worked conscienciously and largely contributed to what is on ground today.
Ondo state needs good stadiums that can host national sport events, many more road flyovers in the capital city, smart road networks in major towns and cities across the three senatorial districts, functional and affordable medical facilities, etc.

" I want to say emphatically that, the dreams of our founding fathers for the state have not been met developmentally and Socially, but there's room  for this present administration to put in place a foundational legacy that can be built on within 25 to 30 years and we'll get there..." he said.
