Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, has intensified the All Progressives Congress (APC) grassroots mobilisation drive, urging continuous community engagement and robust participation in the party’s ongoing electronic membership registration (e-registration) exercise.

Speaking on Wednesday, January 14, at his constituency office in Agege while hosting constituents, party leaders, and executives, Obasa commended the people for their loyalty, support, and active involvement in strengthening the party at the grassroots. He stressed that their enthusiasm remains vital to the APC’s present stability and future electoral success.

The Speaker, who has represented Agege Constituency I since 2003, described the e-registration exercise as a strategic tool for consolidating the party’s cohesion, credibility, and inclusiveness ahead of future elections. According to him, widespread registration would deepen internal democracy and position the APC as a more formidable political platform.

Obasa charged councillors and other elected officials to maintain regular engagements with Community Development Associations (CDAs), landlord associations, religious leaders, market women, and trade groups, noting that such platforms provide firsthand insight into community needs and the impact of government interventions.

Renowned for his advocacy of accessible governance, the Speaker cautioned against episodic leadership, insisting that engagement must go beyond election cycles. “We should not wait until election time before seeing our elected officials. Constant interaction helps us understand where the shoe pinches and enables responsive leadership,” he said.

He further noted that sustained dialogue would promote harmony, early identification of challenges, and mutual trust between leaders and the people, while also fostering political growth for councillors through closer collaboration with party leaders and ward executives.
Reaffirming his commitment to sustained grassroots engagement, Obasa told his supporters, “Together, we will continue to build a stronger, more united, and more resilient APC.”
