Nigerian human rights activist, Aisha Yesufu, has expressed deep skepticism over the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) ability to conduct a credible 2027 election.
Speaking with journalists on the sidelines of the Girls Summit organized by Protect the Previous Foundation in Umuahia, Abia State, Yesufu urged Nigerians to take their destinies into their own hands to ensure their votes are counted and entered for their preferred candidates.
She dismissed hopes for electoral reforms ahead of 2027, stating that “nothing has been put in place.”
“The only thing that remains,” Yesufu said, “is for Nigerians to understand that as they go into 2027, whatever elections we are doing is a fight for our lives. People are dying from bad governance, corruption, and the lack of the right policies.”
She emphasized that the struggle is not against any external force, but for the survival and wellbeing of Nigerians themselves.
