A Nigerian-born telecommunications engineer and cloud strategist, Adedeji Oladejo, is gaining global recognition for his contributions to modern connectivity and digital infrastructure through his work at Amazon Web Services.

In a statement on Monday, Oladejo described access to connectivity as a fundamental right, not a privilege, underscoring the need to make digital tools accessible to all. “Whether it’s a farmer in Oyo or a startup in Ohio, USA, everyone deserves the tools to thrive in a cloud-first world,” he said.

With a career spanning over 15 years across Africa and North America, Oladejo has played a significant role in designing, deploying, and modernising critical telecom and cloud infrastructure. From the early days of Africa’s mobile revolution to advanced cloud-native solutions for public sector innovation, his work has bridged geographies and transformed communities.

Oladejo began his career at Motorola and later at Huawei in Nigeria, specialising in radio frequency optimisation. His early contributions included developing protocols that significantly improved voice and data quality, particularly in underserved rural areas. These advancements enabled millions of Nigerians to access mobile banking, telemedicine, and remote learning services.

At Huawei, he also led the development of disaster recovery strategies that shifted the industry’s focus from reactive repairs to predictive maintenance, reducing downtime and improving network reliability.

His impact grew further during his time as a RAN Consultant at Nokia Networks, where he oversaw the deployment of 3G and LTE infrastructure in Nigeria, Senegal, Tanzania, and Zambia. In this role, he managed cross-functional engineering teams, engaged with local regulators, and ensured the successful rollout of national connectivity projects aimed at closing the digital divide.

Recognising the growing importance of virtual infrastructure, Oladejo transitioned into cloud strategy. At RGS Worldwide, he was instrumental in advising on the migration of Airtel Nigeria’s legacy systems to a cloud-native architecture.

He applied Infrastructure-as-Code techniques using Python, JSON, and Ansible to automate the deployment of Nokia’s Cloud Infrastructure Radios, significantly improving operational efficiency and security.

The project was later recognised as a benchmark in the industry and led to the publication of his peer-reviewed work, ‘Infrastructure-as-Code for 5G RAN, Core and SBI Deployment,’ now widely cited in telecom modernisation research.

Now based in the United States as a Solutions Architect at AWS, Oladejo supports cloud initiatives that intersect security, scalability, and innovation. His recent projects include e-learning modernisation, smart city infrastructure, and AI-driven disaster response systems.

One of his innovations is the development of an AI-enabled Slack bot integrated with Amazon Q Business, designed to streamline internal knowledge management. The tool is currently being piloted across multiple sectors.

Beyond technical delivery, Oladejo is also a recognised thought leader in technology policy. His recent research into AI-enabled observability for telecom networks and privacy-aware AI in cloud-telecom convergence has been referenced in academic programmes and government consultations.

He is also a contributor to The Guardian Nigeria, where he regularly writes on responsible AI, data privacy, and the future of cloud governance.

Oladejo’s credentials include fellowships with the National Institute of Professional Engineers and Scientists and the Institute of Management Consultants. He is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and holds technical certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS SysOps Administrator, and Cisco Certified Network Associate.

While at RGS Worldwide, he dedicated part of his time to mentoring and training emerging African cloud professionals, helping build local capacity in an increasingly cloud-dependent economy.

Despite the accolades, Oladejo said his focus remains firmly on creating real-world impact. “My goal has always been centred on impact,” he said. “Technology is only as powerful as the lives it improves.”
