Nigerian Afropop singer Crayon has stirred controversy on social media after posting a series of messages that appeared to criticize his record label, fueling speculation about a possible departure from Mavin Records.
The artist, whose real name is Charles Chibueze Chukwu, took to the social media platform X with several posts that seemingly targeted key figures within the music label.
In one of the posts, Crayon made a cryptic comment about the label’s founder, celebrated music producer Don Jazzy.

“Don Jazzy na my boy!!!!!! Una dey maddddd!!?? Shayennnnn sharayyyyyy333,” he wrote, a message that left many followers confused about whether it was intended as praise, sarcasm, or criticism.
However, the singer’s comments became more pointed when he directed a strong remark toward the label’s Chief Operating Officer, Tega Oghenejobo.
In the post, Crayon wrote, “Tega highest criminal!!!!!!!!!”, a statement that quickly drew reactions across social media.
Emotional allegation and threats
During the online rant, the singer also made a startling claim, suggesting that the label was somehow responsible for the loss of his mother. However, he did not provide details or explain the circumstances behind the allegation.
Crayon further intensified the situation by posting a message that appeared to threaten the future of the record label.
“Mavin is going down!!!!!!,” he wrote.
The posts triggered widespread speculation among fans and music industry observers about possible internal disputes between the singer and the label that launched his career.
Questions over possible account compromise
Despite the controversial statements circulating on X, some followers have questioned whether the singer’s account may have been compromised.
The speculation emerged because Crayon has continued posting regularly on his Instagram account without acknowledging the posts or suggesting that his X account had been hacked.
As of the time of reporting, the singer has not issued an official clarification regarding the situation.
New venture raises more speculation
Adding to the speculation, Crayon recently shared information on Instagram about what appears to be a new entertainment brand named Olodum Entertainment.
The singer also posted a new booking contact email linked to the venture, further fueling rumours that he may be preparing to operate independently outside his current label structure.
Crayon originally joined the Nigerian music scene under Blowtime Entertainment, an imprint affiliated with Mavin Records, after signing his deal in May 2019.
Since then, he has released several popular tracks and gained a growing fan base within Nigeria’s Afrobeats industry.
Song release linked to new imprint
Meanwhile, online music platforms reportedly show that Crayon’s recently released track titled “Baami” is listed under the Olodum Entertainment imprint rather than the Mavin Records brand.
This development has intensified speculation that the singer could be moving toward a new phase in his career.
Neither Crayon nor Mavin Records has issued an official statement confirming whether the artist is still under contract with the label or if a separation is imminent.
