A decomposed body of a man was discovered inside a parked car near the annex gate of the National Assembly complex in Abuja on Sunday.
The deceased, suspected to be a labourer at an ongoing construction site within the complex, was found in a red Peugeot 406 with registration number BWR-577 BF at about 9 a.m.
Spokesperson for the Federal Capital Territory Police Command, Josephine Adeh, confirmed the incident in a statement on Monday, noting that efforts were underway to establish the victim’s identity.
“The Divisional Police Officer (DPO), National Assembly Division, immediately responded to the call and, upon arrival, discovered the deceased inside a red Peugeot 406 motor vehicle with registration number BWR-577 BF.
“The body was promptly evacuated to Asokoro General Hospital, where medical personnel confirmed it was already in an advanced state of decomposition,” Adeh stated.
She added that the FCT Commissioner of Police, Ajao Olawale, has ordered a discreet investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
