Lady Narrates How POS Operator Got Scammed of N40k by Customer, Many React

A Point of Sale (POS) operator has been left devastated after falling victim to a scam that cost her ₦40,000.

The incident, which was shared by an X user identified as @Julius_Chinwe, involved a man who approached the POS operator claiming to be in a hurry to withdraw ₦40,000.

According to reports, the suspect provided the required transaction details and was handed the POS device to input his PIN.

Unknown to the operator, the man allegedly manipulated the transaction by changing the withdrawal amount from ₦40,000 to ₦4,000.

Believing the transaction was successful, the operator handed over the full ₦40,000 in cash.

Moments later, an alert confirmed that only ₦4,000 had been debited. By the time the operator realized she had been scammed, the suspect had already fled the scene on a motorcycle.

“A POS lady just lost 40k now.

The guy came to withdraw 40k that he’s in a hurry, after she put in the details she gave him the machine to enter his pin, bros deleted a zero and transacted for 4k, when the successful message came up she counted his 40k and gave him.

The guy left with bike immediately then alert came in and it was 4k instead of 40k😞”
