Olajuni was abducted on Monday, February 17, 2025, while travelling to Abuja for a meeting.

The assailants, whose identities remained unknown as of press time, reportedly ambushed him on his route and took him to an undisclosed location.

Following his abduction, the kidnappers demanded a ransom of N100 million and two tricycles for his release.

The development sparked widespread concerns, with various groups calling for urgent action to secure his freedom.

The case gained national attention on Wednesday when a distressing video of Olajuni surfaced online.

In the footage, he was seen at gunpoint, pleading for help from Nigerians to raise the demanded ransom.

The video led to increased pressure on security agencies to intervene.

In response, the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, ordered the deployment of the Intelligence Response Team in suspected locations to ensure his safe return.

The circumstances surrounding Olajuni’s release remained unclear as of press time, including whether the ransom was paid or if security operatives played a direct role in securing his freedom.

However, his release has elicited relief among members of the Afenifere Youth Council.
