The verdict was delivered by Magistrate Hadiza Muhammad Hassan of Court No. 21, who also granted Kilina the option of a N100,000 fine.

In addition, he was ordered to pay N30,000 in compensation to the Kano State Film Censorship Board for what the court described as “wasting the board’s time.”

Kilina was found guilty of promoting indecent behaviour, cross-dressing, and the use of vulgar language in several of his TikTok videos. The case was filed by the Kano State Film Censorship Board as part of its broader campaign to regulate social media content within the state.

According to a report by Daily Trust, the magistrate issued a stern warning to Kilina, urging him to desist from similar conduct in the future.

She cautioned that any repeat offence would result in the full sentence being enforced without the option of a fine.

The conviction adds to a growing list of cases pursued by the Kano State Film Censorship Board as it intensifies efforts to enforce public morality laws and regulate online content.
