This was revealed in a statement shared via X by Nigeria’s vice president Kashim Shettima on Thursday, August 14.

The statement noted that Shettima, while chairing the inaugural meeting of the reactivated Board of Generation Unlimited (GenU) Nigeria, disclosed that the programme is designed to bridge the gap between young people and viable economic opportunities across the country.

The Vice President’s assumption of the role as Chairman of the GenU Nigeria Board marks a renewed focus on youth empowerment. GenU, a global multi-sector partnership, aims to prepare young people for the future of work through skills development, entrepreneurship, and employment pathways. Speaking at the event, Shettima underscored the importance of Nigeria’s demographic advantage.

“With over 60 per cent of our population below the age of 25, we cannot afford to squander this asset,” he said.
He added: “An advantage unrealised is merely potential wasted. We must refine it, we must invest in it, and we must channel it towards productive destinies.”
