Minister of Works, Dave Umahi has revealed that he wasn’t aware of the Lagos independence bridge closure, which led to massive gridlock yesterday in the state.
Motorists spent hours in traffic due to the closure of the bridge for rehabilitation purposes.
Earlier this morning, Governor Babajide Sanwoolu visited the closed section of the bridge and apologized to Lagosians for experiencing such traffic situation, while urging motorists to avoid Victoria island if it is not necessary.
In a surprising turn of events, the minister of works, Dave Umahi, who is meant to order the closure of the bridge revealed that he wasn’t informed.
He made this revelation during an interview session when he visited the scene on the order of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He stated that his ministry designed the rehabilitation but it’s unfortunate that he wasn’t carried along when it was time to begin the project.
He expressed displeasure, while pointing that the ‘comptroller’ did the closure herself.
