A classroom teacher, Medinat Ibrahim Wednesday narrated why she faked her own alleged kidnap. She disclosed that the lack of fatherly care and the loss of her dear mum informed her decision to conspire with two other accomplices to extract money from her dad.

The 24-year-old Medinat, who hails from Oyo state, accused her stepmother of maltreatment since her mother’s demise. She added that she decided to fake her kidnapping to enable her get money to offset debts allegedly incurred during the COVID-19 lockdown.

She said her business had collapsed, adding that salaries at the private school she teaches are not regular.

Parading Medinat and her accomplices Amudalat Wahab and Hammed Lekqn in Ilorin, the state capital, command’s spokesperson Ajayi Okasanmi said the suspects would be charged for criminal conspiracy and kidnapping.

According to him one Nurudeen Sholagberu reported the Kidnap of Medinat Ibrahim at Oko -Olowo area of Ilorin through the command’s emergency telephone line.

He said the newly constituted state anti-kidnapping team was directed to take over the investigations. He explained that during investigations it was discovered that the said Medinat conspired with her sister Amudalat Wahab to arrange her kidnap.

He said a bank account belonging to one Hammed Lekan was used to cash the ransom of N250,000.

The commissioner noted that during interrogation the said Medinat Ibrahim confessed to have faked her own kidnap to enable her get money from her father. He assured the determination of the command to send away criminal elements from the state.
