How Nasir El-Rufa’i Got Forgotten by Arise TV, His Party, Wives, Children and So-Called Supporters Needs to Be Studied, By Reno Omokri

Today marks exactly one week since Nasir el-Rufa’i has been in detention, legally, and by court order. Now, ask yourself which of his African Democratic Congress colleagues are agitating for his release? Not a single one! Not even one!

Not only did they not follow him to the Economics and Financial Crimes Commission, where he was legally detained on Monday, February 16, 2026, which incidentally was his 66th birthday, but they’ve all moved on.

And can you blame them? They are probably worried that his associates may wiretap their phones and hack their email accounts.

Arise TV, which invited him to talk himself into trouble, has moved on, too. News about Nasir el-Rufa’i stopped getting YouTube views (where they make most of their money), so they have moved on to more important stories.

The fellow has not featured in their ‘What’s Trending With Ojy Okpe’ segment.

Alas!

Even his first wife, who likes to correct people’s grammar unsolicited, has not found the lexicon in her vocabulary to write about her husband’s release. In the last seventy-two hours, she seems to have found other trivial pursuits more interesting than her husband’s release.

Please fact-check me by visiting her timeline.

Quite strange! Who would have thought that such a busybody, who once disrespectfully corrected Waziri Atiku Abubakar’s grammar, would be at a loss for words when prison disrespects her husband? Truly, this life has no balance!

And her children, who are usually garrulous on social media, appear to have found other interests to occupy their time online than their father’s ordeal.

His other children, whom I do not want to upset by mentioning their names because they appear to be decent and well-adjusted, are more interested in liberal ideas, like LGBTQ+ and atheism, than in advocating for their father. If you look at their timelines, it is as if nothing ever happened to their father, either good or bad, since last week.

And when I visited Kaduna State last week, it was as if nothing had happened. Life continued. People were buying and selling. Those who were fasting were abstaining from food, while enjoying the relative peace in the state that eluded them for eight solid years under the despotic el-Rufa’i administration.

Even his paid data boys, who previously insulted everyone because of the chicken change he used to pay them, have, like chickens, found somewhere else to roost, leaving el-Rufa’i to roast!

So, what is the point of all this?

It is this: Nasir el-Rufa’i, who thought he was so important to Nigeria in general and to Arewa, specifically, has found out the hard way that he is not what he thinks he was. Life goes on and has gone on.

Nobody in his family, party, state, or geopolitical zone appears to be missing him.

And this is the same fellow who vowed to unseat President Tinubu in 2027. Someone whose closest relatives won’t even unseat themselves to seek his release!

What an irony!

The professional, sycophantic kneeler before powerful and influential men has finally realised that it is better to kneel internally, with humility, than to hypocritically kneel externally while being consumed with pride!

Moral of the Story: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought to, because life has a way of humbling you if you refuse to humble yourself!
