Nollywood actress Bimbo Ademoye has spoken candidly about a painful chapter in her life involving a former friend who turned hostile out of jealousy.
In an emotional Instagram post, the AMVCA-nominated star recounted how she once went out of her way to support a friend who dreamed of joining the movie industry
Bimbo said she often covered the cost of outfits, shoes, and accessories to help the friend look presentable at events.“I remember I once had a friend who wanted to be an actor as well. Whenever we attended events, I’d shop for her as well, I’m talking clothes, shoes, bags and all. I wanted her to look like the superstar she wanted to become,” she wrote

At the time, Bimbo was already making a name for herself, with notable roles in projects like Sugar Rush, Looking for Baami, and Backup Wife. She added that she had already earned two AMVCA nominations.“Mind you, I was already getting fame, because I already had movies like Sugar Rush, Looking for Baami, Backup Wife, and all. Let me add that I had already been nominated twice for the AMVCA.”Tensions began to rise during the premiere of a film in which she played the lead role. After having her outfits fitted by a stylist ahead of the event, she was surprised when her friend appeared wearing the exact same dress in a different colour—despite earlier downplaying her own outfit plans.“One day, I had a premiere to attend, it was a movie I was in, and I played the lead role. My stylist had done fittings for me, like twice, in the presence of this friend. I had asked her what she was going to wear, and she was like, ‘I don’t even know, maybe I’d just look casual chic.’ I responded with, ‘Just look good, you can’t be my friend and look drab.’ I got my makeup done, hair done, everything done. It was time to wear my dress. Tell me why Aunty pulled out the same exact dress I was wearing in another colour. In all honesty, I didn’t really mind.”While Bimbo let the moment slide, her sister expressed concern, warning that the gesture wasn’t innocent. Bimbo didn’t take the advice seriously at first, but soon began to notice a troubling pattern.“It was as if something woke up in her that day. For every event we attended, she’d always want to dress or look more expensive (which I didn’t mind) ON MY TAB,” she said.The situation worsened when Bimbo fell ill for an extended period and received no support from the friend. That, she said, was the final straw.“Then one day, I fell sick. Days turned to weeks, weeks to months, I didn’t see this Aunty. So I took my L and cut her off.”But what followed took her by complete surprise. The actress revealed that the friend created a fake Instagram account just to troll her and went as far as messaging her then-boyfriend in an attempt to get close to him romantically.“Tell me why this daughter of Jezebel created a fake page on IG and started trolling me and sending messages to my boyfriend at the time saying all sorts. The craziest part, she even tried to link up with him romantically,” Bimbo disclosed.She ended the post by hinting that more details might be revealed in the future, should the need arise.
