Chester Lamar Grant, 40, has been charged with the murder of 23-year-old Elizabeth Odunsi.

The crime took place at 6510 Goforth Street on April 26 and is being investigated by the Houston Police Department’s Homicide Division.

Grant now faces trial in the 176th State District Court, according to the City of Houston.

Houston Police Department patrol officers responded to a welfare check at an apartment complex.

“HPD patrol officers were called to a residence at the above apartment complex for a welfare check. They knocked on the door but did not receive an answer. Officers then discovered blood on the rear concrete patio and entered the apartment. The female victim was discovered on the kitchen floor with multiple stab wounds.” Officers found Odunsi, who had been fatally stabbed, and Grant, who had at least one stab wound, as reported by the City of Houston.

Elizabeth Odunsi was found deceased on Goforth Street, and Grant was critically injured and taken to the hospital. After further investigation by detectives H. Martinez and S. Chettry, Grant was identified as the primary suspect. He was arrested last Friday, just days after the incident. The investigation is ongoing, as stated by the City of Houston.
