Attention parents, as the holiday season approaches, it is crucial that we address a serious issue affecting children worldwide—pedophilia.

Fathers, gather your children for this crucial discussion, while mothers, ensure your sons and daughters understand the importance of this topic.  

Pedophilia is a psychiatric disorder where adults experience sexual attraction towards children under 18. As guardians, it is our responsibility to safeguard our children from these predators. 

 Child sexual abuse takes many forms, including molestation, rape, exposure to pornography, and inappropriate touching. Shockingly, over 95% of abused children know their abuser, which could be a very close family member, trusted individual neighbour, teacher, or someone in a position of trust. 

Perpetrators often use tactics like grooming and emotional manipulation to gain a child’s trust. Look out for warning signs such as excessive involvement with your child or your child showing discomfort around a person.

Educating our children on the “Shout, Run, Report” action plan is crucial so they know how to respond if approached. We must remain vigilant and not let our guard down, even with those closest to us.
