One of Ondo State’s leading secondary schools, Gboluji Anglican Grammar School, Ile-Oluji will celebrate its 70th anniversary in February 2024.

The highlight of the week-long celebration is the launching of a book about the school and the inauguration of a N1b Endowment Fund on February 24, 2024, at the Civic Centre, Ile-Oluji, under the auspices of the Gboluji Grammar School Old Students Impact Club.

The book, which is titled “In Pursuit of Excellence, Truth and Learning: Gboluji Anglican Grammar School, Ile-Oluji: 1954 – 2024”, was written by Prof. J.K. Olupona, an alumnus of the school who is currently a Professor of African Religious Traditions, at Harvard Divinity School and Professor of African and African American Studies in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences.

Speaking on the objective of the Endowment Fund, the Gboluji Grammar School Old Students Impact Club said: “Our endowment fund is to empower, consolidate, and help GGS to better meet future expenditures, to keep the school in good form, and upgrade students to excellent performance”.

The Club added: “To launch the One Billion Naira Endowment Fund for Gboluji Anglican Grammar School at this time is very appropriate, relevant, and reasonable. We are never to forget that the onus of this project is on every alumni member to keep giving, keep soliciting for continuous giving, reviewing, and re-establishing appropriate targets for the fund, and be advocates for the fund to our family, friends, and associates”.

The National President of the Gboluji Old Students Association, Dr. Afolabi Adewakun, disclosed that the 70th anniversary celebration is an opportunity for old students worldwide to appreciate the school and give back. He added that all old student associations have been mobilised to actively participate in all the activities.
