Galatasaray extended their perfect start to the Süper Lig season with a 1-0 win over Corendon Alanyaspor, making it seven wins from seven and securing a record-breaking 15th consecutive league victory.

The decisive moment came in the 22nd minute when Mauro Icardi stylishly finished off a clever assist from Wilfried Singo, flicking the ball home with a backheel to put the Lions in front.

Both sides produced chances throughout a lively contest, with goalkeeper Uğurcan Çakır proving crucial for Galatasaray, denying Ogundu twice in one-on-one situations and keeping Alanyaspor at bay during a tense second half.

The night also brought a major boost for Okan Buruk’s side: Victor Osimhen returned from injury, coming on in the 84th minute for Barış Alper Yılmaz.

It was the Nigerian striker’s first appearance since picking up a knock on international duty earlier this month, a timely return ahead of the midweek Champions League clash with Liverpool.

Despite Alanyaspor’s late pressure — including a stoppage-time header from Mounie that flew just over — Galatasaray held firm to take all three points and remain top of the league with 21 points from 21.

The 26 year old was said to be in discomfort but Galatasaray coach Okan Buruk said two days ago that he was still banking on the Nigerian striker for their Champions League clash against Liverpool, PUNCH Sports Extra reported.

Osimhen was sidelined since sustaining a chin injury while on international duty with Nigeria during their 1-0 win over Rwanda in Uyo earlier this month.
