The spokesperson of the Ekiti State Police Command, Sunday Abutu has disclosed that five suspected cultists who claim to be students of the Ekiti State University (EKSU), have been arrested during a cult initiation ceremony. 

Abutu made the disclosure in a statement issued on Monday, April 26, saying the suspects were arrested during the initiation rite held in a bush behind the school campus in Iworoko-Ekiti.

According to the statement, the police Rapid Response Squad (RRS) acted on an intelligence report that some members of the Black Axe (Aiye) secret confraternity were holding an initiation exercise. The suspects shot sporadically at the police but were later overpowered by the security operatives, leading to their arrest. Some suspects were also said to have taken to their heels and escaped.

Those arrested were Adeyeye Adeyemi, 29, Adeyemi Tobi, 25, Moyosore Onajobi, 22, Dickson Godwin, 23, and Olowosaye Martins, 21.
