Over the past two decades, I’ve had to let people go. Each time, I carried that responsibility with care and respect for the person on the other end.

But the day I was the one being let go, the script flipped. And so did my perspective on leadership.

At first, it felt like a loss — of structure, title, predictability. But then came space — to ask deeper questions, to reflect, and ultimately, to rebuild. Not just a career, but a conviction.

Interestingly, that moment didn’t immediately lead to entrepreneurship. I went on to take another job. But the seed of what would become Intesup had already been planted — quietly, but with intention.

Being let go didn’t start the company. But it stirred something foundational in me — a sense of purpose I could no longer ignore.

That experience grounded my empathy and sharpened my sense of direction. It eventually led to Intesup: a mission rooted in transforming Africa’s supply chains through integrity, innovation, and impact.

Leadership isn’t just about making the hard calls. It’s about allowing ourselves to be shaped by them.

So if you’re standing at a crossroads, unsure of what’s next, take heart. What feels like an end might be the beginning of a calling you hadn’t yet named.
