The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has thanked residents of Bwari Area Council for their support in the February 21 FCT Area Council elections, describing the outcome as a fulfilment of commitments made to President Bola Tinubu.

Wike spoke during a thank-you visit to Bwari on Tuesday, where he praised the turnout and support shown by the electorate, stressing that elected officials must honour their promises.

He recalled previous engagements with community stakeholders, noting that the administration consulted widely before initiating projects in the area.

According to him, the results of the polls demonstrate the confidence of the people in President Tinubu’s leadership.

“On behalf of the President, I thank you for keeping the promise you made to him by ensuring that all those who supported him and contested in this election emerged victorious.

“He will not take this support for granted. In return, he will fulfil his own commitments to you, and that responsibility will be carried out through me,” Wike said.

The minister assured residents that major infrastructure projects, including the Bwari–Kubwa road, would be completed as scheduled.

“So, I tell all of you, the road we are constructing from Bwari to Kubwa—we will finish it. We will finish it this year,” he pledged.

Wike also cautioned against what he described as misleading political tactics by opposition figures.

The minister urged residents to remain steadfast in supporting leaders who understand their needs and priorities.

In his remarks, the Chairman-elect of Bwari Area Council, Joshua Ishaku, expressed appreciation to the minister and the electorate for their support.

He described Wike as a supportive and committed leader.

Ishaku pledged continued support for the administration ahead of future elections.

“Just as others have said, come 2027, we in the Bwari Area Council will leave no stone unturned to ensure that the renewed mandate is restored. Thank you very much.

“We know that, as promised, you will return to build more roads, more schools, and more hospitals, and to continue the development of Bwari. Develop the Bwari of our dreams,” he said.

Recall that the immediate past Speaker of the Bwari Area Council Legislative Arm and former Peoples Democratic Party chairmanship aspirant in Bwari, Julius Adamu, stepped down for Ishaku, of the All Progressives Congress, a few days before the election, following discussions with Wike.
