Liverpool are edging closer to a move to sign Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi, according to reports – with the Reds having ‘agreed’ personal terms with the Premier League defender over a proposed move to Anfield alongside Newcastle United star Alexander Isak.

The Anfield outfit have already signed Bayer Leverkusen duo Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz this summer for a combined £145million, with the latter breaking a Premier League transfer record at a cost of £116million – whilst the likes of Milos Kerkez and Hugo Ekitike have also joined a new-look Liverpool outfit. Isak has also been touted for a move at around £120million, as reports emerge that he could refuse to play for Newcastle again until he gets his move to join Arne Slot‘s side, making it an outstanding window for the Kop End faithful.

Negotiations are underway with Palace over a potential move, with a total fee of around £35million being touted for the international ‘superstar‘ – who sees his current contract in south London run out next summer. A deal could be ‘done soon’, with the Reds also looking at Parma youngster Giovanni Leoni as a backup option to come into the centre-back role years down the line.

Guehi has shot to prominence over the past year, having performed exceptionally as John Stones‘ centre-half partner for the Three Lions at EURO 2024, conceding just four goals from the group stages through to the final as Gareth Southgate‘s side agonisingly lost in the final to Spain.

That, alongside sustained impressive performances for Palace at the heart of their defence, could see Guehi make the move to Merseyside in a bid to win more trophies after a success-laden few months at Selhurst Park, which saw him lift the FA Cup in May as well as the Community Shield on Sunday – incidentally against Liverpool.

Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate are the de-facto starting duo at the heart of Liverpool’s defence, though the latter has constantly been linked with a move to Real Madrid in recent weeks and that could see him move to Spain – thus allowing Guehi to come into Slot’s ranks and establish himself as a key member of their first-team with annual trophies in his sights.
