Explosions Rock Zamfara, Claim Multiple Lives

Suspected bomb explosions on the Yar’Tasha–Dansadau road in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State have reportedly claimed multiple lives, with several commuters said to have been caught in the blasts.

The incident was said to have occurred on Saturday.

The exact number of casualties had yet to be confirmed as of press time.

Confirming the development in a telephone interview, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Zamfara State Command, Yazid Abubakar, said security operatives were still assessing the situation.

“I can confirm that there was a blast in that area, but the incident just happened. I can’t tell you the details yet. I will update you later,” Abubakar stated.

Videos circulating on social media showed panicky travellers fleeing the scene following the explosions.

Casualty figures and the extent of damage remained unclear as of the time of filing this report.

Social media users also reacted to the incident, expressing shock and calling for urgent security action.

One user, Nuhu Sada, described it as “another tragic attack on innocent travellers in Zamfara,” urging security agencies to act swiftly. Another commenter suggested the explosive device may have been planted by bandits, though this claim has not been officially confirmed.
