The family of the immediate past Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Aondona Dajoh, has been reportedly thrown into mourning following the sudden death of his elder brother, Gwamile Dajoh.

Reports said that Gwamile collapsed and died a few hours after Aondona announced his resignation as the Speaker of the Benue Assembly on Sunday, August 24, 2025.

Gwamile was said to have been deeply concerned over the political crisis in the House before his sudden demise.

Details surrounding the circumstances of Gwamile’s death remained sketchy leaving family, friends, and colleagues in shock and contemplation as to what might have caused the death which coincidentally happened on the same day husband younger brother lost his seat as Speaker if the House of Assembly.

His death follows Aondona’s resignation, which paved the way for the election of Alfred Emberga as the new Speaker during an emergency plenary session on Sunday.

Dajoh announced his resignation in what political observers described as controversial circumstances.

Neither the family nor the Benue State Police Command had yet to speak on the incident as of press time.
