A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State, Abdulrasaq Odusote, has alleged that “hypocrisy and ethnic sentiment” are responsible for opposition to President Bola Tinubu’s anticipated second-term bid in 2027.
Odusote said the administration has demonstrated competence and leadership capacity, which, according to him, is repositioning the country towards economic growth and long-term sustainability.
He cited initiatives such as the reintroduction of student bursaries and ongoing federal infrastructure projects, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Badagry-Sokoto Expressway, as indicators of what he described as effective governance.

According to him, the projects signal a renewed commitment to social welfare and infrastructure development reminiscent of policy directions witnessed in earlier decades.
Odusote spoke on Thursday during a stakeholders’ meeting in Sagamu attended by support groups, including Ogo Tuntun for PDA, PBAT 2027, Royal Men and Women, and Ogun Women Assembly for Yayi.
The groups expressed support for President Tinubu’s re-election bid, the governorship ambition of Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, and the political aspirations of Governor Dapo Abiodun in the 2027 elections.
“In today’s Nigeria, it is difficult to ignore the impact of the current administration. Major infrastructure, such as the coastal highway and the Badagry-Sokoto road, reflects a commitment to national development.
“The revival of bursaries and other support programmes for students is also a positive step that should be acknowledged. Opposition based on ethnic considerations will not advance national progress,” Odusote said.
He predicted strong electoral support for the APC in future elections, expressing confidence that the party’s performance would resonate with voters.
Also speaking at the event, Rev. Olusola Salau, leader of Ogo Tuntun for Dapo Abiodun and President Tinubu 2027, said the collaboration among political support groups was aimed at mobilising backing for the president’s second term, while also supporting the political ambitions of Governor Abiodun and Senator Adeola.
Salau stated that electoral outcomes ultimately depend on voters, but maintained that the achievements recorded by the president, the Ogun State governor and Senator Adeola provide a basis for continued support.
Commenting on recent defections into the APC, he attributed the trend to confidence in the party’s performance and prospects in future elections.
In her remarks, the convener of Royal Men and Women for Yayi, Alhaja Rianat Oshisanwo, expressed optimism about mobilising support for the APC across the Remo axis of Ogun State ahead of the 2027 polls.
Meanwhile, the immediate past Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council in Ogun State, Samson Ogunsanya, noted that the body remains committed to promoting credible and transparent electoral processes across political parties.
