Manchester United claimed their first Premier League victory of the season on Saturday after edging Burnley 3-2 at Old Trafford, thanks to a late controversial penalty that sparked heated protests from the visitors.

United went in front in the 27th minute when Burnley’s Josh Cullen turned the ball into his own net.
The visitors, however, levelled through Lyle Foster early in the second half before United quickly restored their lead with Bryan Mbeumo’s strike.

Burnley fought back again as Jaidon Anthony scored in the 67th minute to make it 2-2, putting pressure on Erik ten Hag’s side who were winless after their opening fixtures.
The decisive moment came when United were awarded a penalty following what appeared to be minimal contact in the box.
Despite strong appeals from the Burnley players and bench, the referee upheld the decision, and the captain, Bruno Fernandes converted to make it 3-2.
The result comes as a huge relief for United, who had failed to win any of their opening games this season despite heavy summer signings.
Their struggles were compounded by a shocking Carabao Cup exit to fourth division side Grimsby Town, which drew widespread criticism of the team’s form.

Saturday’s victory finally handed Manchester United their first three points of the campaign, easing some early pressure as they look to rebuild momentum.
