An explosion has hit the secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Aba Road in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Believed to have been caused by dynamite in the early hours of Saturday, the incident has heightened tension in Port Harcourt.
Reports said the explosion occurred amid preparation for local government elections.
It damaged the gate of the secretariat and shattered many windows and doors.
The attack marked the second this year for the APC, under the leadership of Chief Tony Okocha.
Witnesses said party workers were sighted assessing the damage shortly after the incident.
Grace Iringe-Koko, spokesperson for the state police command, stated she had yet to receive a report of the incident but assured that she would ,”provide updates as they become available.”
The APC had also yet to formally react to the development as of press time.
