The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said it remains strong and focused despite the recent wave of defections by some governors.

Speaking on Arise TV’s Prime Time programme on Tuesday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, said the PDP’s real power comes from the people, not political office holders.

According to him, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is not weakening the PDP but making life harder for Nigerians through insecurity and economic hardship issues that will influence the 2027 elections.

“When a governor leaves, it’s a concern, but our strength is in the people. If PDP is truly weak, why is everyone so interested in it?” Ologunagba asked.

He added that Governor Peter Mbah’s defection from the PDP to the APC was not about ideology but about pressure, intimidation, and personal gain allegedly pushed by the ruling party.

“People are no longer defecting because of good policies they are being forced or induced,” he said.
