Actress, Damilola Adegbite, ignited heated discussions online with a video post she made during the week where she questioned whether women could have male best friends without romantic or physical attractions.

Adegbite asked, “I’d like you to be honest with me, please, ladies. This one is for us. Do you believe it’s possible to have a male best friend that you are not attracted to? I don’t mean just a close friend. I mean like a real best friend; someone you tell everything and cry to.”

She added, “In fact, he’s very pleasant to the eye. He’s handsome. You may know that he likes you a little more than friends. You can sense that he could tick a lot of your ideal man boxes, maybe just minus one, two or three things. But you never crossed the line, never been physical with him; at least not yet.”

The actress pressed even further, “Is it really possible to keep it that way? I mean long-term now, not just two weeks or a month. Or is it one of those never-say-never situations? Isn’t that in itself some kind of attraction? That he is your best friend — except he’s gay — can you really say there’s nothing there?”

Unsurprisingly, her questions generated mixed reactions, especially as she was once rumoured to be romantically linked with fellow actor, Bolanle Ninolowo, after the latter got separated from his wife. While she never confirmed the speculation, many online users tied her remarks to those rumours, suggesting that she could be speaking from personal experience.

Actress, Lilian Esoro wrote, “Werey. Is there something you are trying to tell us?” while @officialiroko added, “Just tell us who the friend is so that it would be easier to help you.”’

@seyibakare1848 teased, “Mama don fall in love oo.”
