The magistrate court sitting in Akure, Ondo State has sentenced a woman, Omoyeni Opeyemi, to three and half years imprisonment for brutalizing a 12-year-old boy, Joel Sunday, who is her home help.

The convict was arrested by men of the state police command after she used a razor blade to inflict deep cuts on the body of the victim at Adebowale Area of Akure, Ondo state.

Omoyeni, 36,  had accused the boy of stealing some pieces of meat from her pot of soup.

The widow, 36, was arraigned before the court on a five-count charge bothering on attempted murder, child abuse, violence against persons among others.

The Magistrate, Mrs. Olufunmilayo Edwin, said the defendant was guilty of counts one, four, and five. She however struck out count four.
