Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari held late-night meetings with the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, and former Interim National Chairman of the party, Bisi Akande, in the State House, Abuja.

Details of the meeting which held on Monday night and behind-closed-door are yet to be made available. But reports suggest the meeting was centred around national security, the economy as well as party matters. There are reports that the Nigerian leader also met with northeastern Borno state governor, Babagana Zulum on the worsening security situation in the state. There are indications that the meeting with the governor might not be unconnected with Sunday’s incident where a commander of one of the Nigerian Army’s battalions was reportedly killed by suspected Boko Haram insurgents who attacked a military base in Mainok, Borno.Thirteen soldiers were also said to have been killed in the attack while troops were said to have been overpowered by the insurgents who came with heavy weapons and were disguised in a military convoy.A police station was also razed in the attack while weapons were looted at the military base.
