Maiduguri, Borno State’s capital, has been severely flooded after the Alau Dam collapsed on Tuesday morning, leaving much of the city underwater.

The current flooding is being compared to the 1994 floods, with residents saying it’s even worse this time around.

A video shared by Nigerian Television Authority on Tuesday, September 10, reveals multiple people stranded and unable to return to their homes due to the severe flooding.

Hundreds of families have lost their homes, forcing many to spend the night outdoors.
