Bendel Insurance Surrender Two Goals Lead, Share Points with Niger Tornadoes in Minna

It was a disappointed moment as Bendel Insurance FC surrendered two goals lead in the first half and finally settled for two all draws against Niger Tornadoes FC in Minna on Sunday.

Insurance FC showed resilience in the first half of the Nigeria’ Premier Football League (NPFL.) Match Day 26 with quick two goals in the first half while the host, Niger Tornadoes forced them to end the game in 2/2.

The Benin Arsenals enjoyed a flying start to the 2025/26 revised fixture encounter at the Bako Kontagora stadium in Minna with a brilliant early goal scored by Nnamdi Anthony three minutes into the game.

Wing Commander Chinedu Nwosu doubled the lead for Insurance FC in the 40th minute to increase the pressure on the host team as the first half ended with the visitors going into the break with two goals advantage.

The Benin Arsenals maintained the lead in the second half till the 60th minute when A. Dalhatu struck to reduce the goals deficit and regain confidence.

Insurance FC however maintained composure and resilience but were unlucky to run away with victory as R. Mendos scored the equalizing goal in the 4th minute of the 9 minutes extra time after the full 90 minutes regulation period.

Tornadoes who lost 1-0 to Insurance FC in the first round meeting in Benin on September 13, 2025 had to dig deep and threw in everything to avoid home and away humiliating defeat to the resurgent Benin Arsenals.

Before the kick off, Bendel Insurance FC were 8th on the league table while Niger Tornadoes occupied 7th position with 33 points each and now have 34 points apiece to maintain their positions.

Bendel Insurance FC will be at home against the Peoples Elephants of Aba on Saturday, February 7, 2026. Insurance lost 3-2 to Enyimba FC in the first round of the current season in Aba. The Benin Arsenals no doubt will come all out to avenge Aba defeat.
