Four Chinese nationals were on Sunday abducted by suspected bandits from a mining site in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The attack, which occurred barely two weeks after three policemen and two vigilante members were killed in the same council area, has heightened fears among residents.

Eyewitnesses said the heavily armed bandits ambushed the Chinese workers, believed to be engaged in mining activities, and whisked them away. An unidentified soldier was reportedly killed during the attack, while a mobile policeman attached to the Chinese was also shot.

“We are now living in fear. We cannot sleep in our homes and can no longer go to our farms. We want the government and security agents to come to our rescue. This is a systematic elimination of our people,” a resident lamented.

When contacted, Kogi State Police Command spokesman, SP William Ovye Aya, said he could not immediately confirm the incident but promised to provide updates.
