Claims circulating that Nigeria’s former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, informed stakeholders of the African Democratic Congress during a closed-door meeting that he was stepping aside from active politics have been firmly denied.

In a statement issued through his media adviser, Paul Ibe, Atiku described the report as false and misleading, saying no such national stakeholders’ meeting took place and no retirement announcement was made.

He clarified that his only recent engagement was a meeting with party stakeholders in Adamawa State. The statement added that any major political decision by Atiku would be formally communicated through his media office, not through unverified reports.

Atiku also reaffirmed his continued involvement in politics and dismissed the claims as disinformation.
