The Federal Government has officially unveiled the theme for Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary as “Nigeria @ 65: All Hands on Deck for a Greater Nation.”

The theme, according to the government, underscores the need for unity, collaboration, and patriotism among the public sector, private sector, civil society, and every Nigerian citizen in order to build a peaceful, prosperous, and progressive country.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Director of Information and Public Relations at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Segun Imohiosen, described the theme as a rallying call for national solidarity.

“The theme underscores the need for unity, collaboration, and patriotism among the public sector, private sector, civil society, and every Nigerian citizen,” Imohiosen said. “It is a reminder that our progress, achieved since independence in 1960, requires sustained and collective effort from all to ensure a future marked by sustainable peace and prosperity.”
The statement reflected on Nigeria’s journey since October 1, 1960, noting the country’s resilience through challenges and significant strides across various economic sectors. It also emphasized that all anniversary activities and programs would align with the theme to reinforce the message and support the implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Highlighting the commemoration lineup, the statement announced that the Juma’at Prayer will hold on Friday, September 26 at 1 p.m., followed by the Inter-Denominational Church Service on Sunday, September 28 at 10 a.m. The symbolic World Press Conference is scheduled for Monday, September 29 at 10 a.m., during which further engagements on the anniversary will be shared.
Imohiosen called on Nigerians to join hands in marking both the nation’s milestone and the collective effort required to build an inclusive and stronger Nigeria.
“This 65th Independence Anniversary is not just a celebration but a collective recommitment to the values and aspirations that will define our nation’s future,” he stressed.
