Aiyedatiwa’s ambition poses real threat to APC in Ondo State, by Sola Ajisafe

” Imado iba se bi Elede a ba ilu je. Eru iba j’oba ko ni ku eni kokan”. – (A Yoruba proverb).

I could relate with the fact that politics is a contest of ideas and also that as a bonafide citizen of Ondo State and sitting Governor, Mr Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa has all the rights to aspire to any political office of his choice. However, in doing this, it is unacceptable and unscrupulous for him to want to destroy the party by all means possible.

What we are currently witnessing in Ondo State under the supervision and leadership of the Governor is not only ideologically dangerous but politically suicidal for our party in Ondo State and may have far reaching effects at the national level. More importantly, to the 2027 ambition of Mr. President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

First, one of the roles of the leader of the party is to build the party and ” rally the troops” but regrettably, Lucky was unable to achieve it when he was the most senior political leader as a Deputy Governor when Aketi was on the sick bed or as Acting Governor. Now that nature has put on his lap what he may ordinarily not get in two lifetimes, he could not do any better.

Aside from the fact that he has continuously divided the party, by his clinging to the soft belly of ” we against them”, he has succeeded in recruiting known and vociferous enemies of Akeredolu and constantly throwing stones into his political family. Also, rather than building a consensus, he has gone to every length to show his hand that he is now in the saddle and that it is either you are in or you stay outside the loop. Not only in power but in the party. What a dangerous reversal of fortune for our party.

More dangerous is his desire to create a facade of governance and leadership based on deceit and debauchery. What we know as the Lucky leadership and governance style today is to invade the system by all manners of injury which include but not limited to violent conduct both in his home and in the party. We have consistently felt the absence of his wife in Alagbaka to which he has not been able to provide an answer.

We have also seen his hand in the weaponization of the political system through his violent act during the visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, some weeks back. More dangerous is the issue of his certificate wahala. It is noted that as we speak, Mr. Governor does not have a valid certificate that he can point to as his educational attainment. All his so called certificates are currently in doubt. How could we give the ticket of our party to such individual.

More distardly, disdainful and dangerous is the attempt to sell our political commonwealth to aliens and invaders masquerading as political puritans or “comebakers” or the ” returnees”. Whether it is in the area of their forceful customization by ” ambush” of leaders of the party into a strange organisation led by a dangerous customer from Lagos or the romance with a known opposition party and it’s leader in Ondo State.

In all, these are not the best of times for our party and the leader of the party himself. Unfortunately, he has passed the Rubicon and had showed his hand. There is no going back again.

Ayedatiwa’s action has proven that he is going to be a clog in the wheels of the party in our State. His danger level should not be allowed to consume our party.

I have said my own and hope the system listens.

Rather than focusing on Lucky Ayedatiwa, we should focus on how to develop Ondo state. Ondo state has no infrastructure nor light for years and yet we are clamouring on political positions. Let’s look at what will benefit an average citizen of Ondo state. All these hullabaloo of Lucky will not take us to nowhere. Our agriculture and mineral resources (bitumen) needs to be developed . Ondo state live on the handout of federal government. Please let’s discuss ideas and good governance like any other progressive states rather all these political nonsense. What benefit will an average Ondo state people get by discussing Lucky’s wife?
Please note am not a politician nor a fan of Lucky but enough is enough of Ondo state unprogressive politics. I hope Ondo state will not go back to the days of Omoboriowo.
Let’s develop Ondo state and we can only do by not tearing ourselves down.
