An Abuja-based business owner has taken to social media to share a hard lesson about branding and perception after allegedly losing a high-value wedding decoration contract.
In a video circulating online, the entrepreneur recounted how he had previously designed a wedding for a satisfied client who later referred him to a friend planning a March wedding in Abuja.
After discussions, portfolio presentations, and agreement on a ₦50 million deal, the prospective client requested a physical meeting before making payment.

According to him, the meeting took an unexpected turn. Upon arrival, he claimed the clients appeared surprised by his appearance and questioned whether he owned the business or worked for someone else.
He later learned through his former client that the prospective clients had concerns about his credibility, allegedly questioning how someone charging such a fee did not arrive in a car.
The businessman revealed that he had sold his vehicle years earlier to reinvest in his business, a decision he now regrets. He stated that he has lost multiple deals due to similar perceptions, stressing that in Abuja, appearance and presentation significantly influence trust and pricing power.
He advised fellow entrepreneurs to invest in visible symbols of credibility, particularly a car, arguing that it affects how clients assess a brand’s success and reliability.
