APC Directs Ministers, Appointees to Only Attend Rallies in Home States

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) has directed ministers, political appointees and members of the council to attend only campaign rallies organised in their respective home states ahead of the 2027 contest.

The directive was contained in a circular signed by Abdulaziz Yari, director-general of the PCC.

According to the circular, the rallies aim to mobilise APC supporters and communicate President Bola Tinubu’s achievements to voters.

The PCC directed ministers and other political appointees to concentrate on grassroots mobilisation in their polling units, wards and local government areas (LGAs), in line with the campaign’s “pyramid concept”.

“Ministers and other political appointees are required to attend only the rallies held in their home States. This is to ensure targeted coordination and implementation of campaign activities,” the circular reads.

The circular further directed directorates without specific responsibilities at the rallies to focus on executing their approved work plans and budgets.

On the party’s national working committee (NWC), Yari said members, except the national chairman, national secretary, national women leader, national youth leader and national organising secretary, should concentrate on their party responsibilities and mobilisation activities in their respective states and zones.

However, the circular said NWC members are also expected to attend rallies organised in their home states.

The PCC said it would strengthen the visibility of APC candidates contesting seats in state assemblies, the house of representatives and the senate at the rallies.

“Directors are requested to ensure that the contents of this circular are brought to the attention of all officers within their Directorates, and that its provisions are duly observed,” Yari stated.
