Nurse Rita Anagho Has Been Sentenced to 14 Years in Prison in the United States for A Massive Medicaid Fraud Scheme

She owned an addiction treatment clinic in Arizona. According to U.S. prosecutors, her clinic billed Medicaid more than $69 million for treatments, including some services that were never provided.

The government said about $55 million was actually paid to her clinic.

Prosecutors also said she paid people to bring patients to her clinic and used fake medical records to make the claims look real.

She later pleaded guilty to fraud charges.

Apart from the 14-year prison sentence, she was ordered to repay nearly $55 million. Authorities also seized millions of dollars from her bank accounts and properties.
