Northern Women Group Supporting Tinubu’s Re-election Based On His Achievements -Uba Sani

Uba Sani, governor of Kaduna, says Northern Nigerian women Ulama have endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term because of his “achievements and inclusive style of governance”.

Speaking on Sunday at a stakeholders’ engagement with delegates from the 19 northern states at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Conference Centre, Sani said the delegates represented millions of women across the region and had expressed their support for Tinubu through their leaders.

“They are not endorsing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu based on sentiments or some selfish reasons. It is simply because of what he has done for Nigeria and for Northern Nigeria in particular,” Sani said. The governor said the women cited Tinubu’s achievements in education, infrastructure, healthcare and agriculture as reasons for their endorsement.

He said the women also commended the president for treating all parts of the country fairly and ensuring that development reaches every region. Sani said the administration had invested in both conventional and skills-based education through the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme and the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).

“Most importantly, he has invested a lot in education, which is the most important area of focus in Northern Nigeria. You will agree with me that the gap that exists in the north is very wide,” he said. “As some of them (women Ulama) have said here, if you go to the dashboard of NELFUND and TVET, Northern Nigeria has benefitted to the tune of over 60%.

“That is simply because President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is detribalised, he is someone who believes in one Nigeria without discrimination. That is the reason why they are motivated, they are inspired and they decided to come together from the 19 northern states, to endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

The event, which was organised by the office of the special adviser to the president on political matters, was attended by Inuwa Yahaya, governor of Gombe; Mai Mala Buni, governor of Yobe; and Babagana Zulum, governor of Borno.

Bello Matawalle, minister of defence; Muttaqa Rabe Darma, minister of housing; and other senior government officials were also present.

Sani said governors supporting Tinubu attended to encourage the women to take their message to communities across the 19 northern states.

He also claimed that the north had benefited more under Tinubu than under any previous Nigerian leader.

“We as Governors who are supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, we are here to support them, to motivate them to do more and take their message to all the 19 northern states, and all our wards and local governments,” he said.

“The north has benefitted under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu more than any leader in the history of Nigeria. We have the data and the statistics and we can prove it any day anytime.”

Sani dismissed arguments that political campaigns should be framed around the north-south divide, describing such positions as a “lazy argument”.

He said several politicians who previously held positions as vice-presidents, governors and ministers had opportunities to develop the region but did not do as much as Tinubu.
