“Davido Will Ride for Anybody He Loves” — Adekunle Gold Opens Up about Singer’s Loyalty

Nigerian singer, Adekunle Gold has opened up about his relationship with music star Davido, describing him as a genuine friend who consistently stands by the people he cares about.

Adekunle Gold, popularly known as AG Baby, made the remarks while speaking on the One54 Africa Podcast hosted by Akbar Gbajabiamila and Godfrey Danchimah.

Reflecting on Davido’s personality away from the spotlight, the singer praised his willingness to support friends and associates beyond their musical careers.

Adekunle Gold said, “Davido will ride for anybody he loves.”

He added, “He’s a genuine person who consistently supports people within his circle. And his support goes beyond just music.”

Adekunle Gold recalls how friendship with Davido grew

The singer revealed that their relationship became stronger following their collaboration on the 2021 hit song “High”.

After writing the track, Adekunle Gold said he felt Davido was the right artiste to feature and subsequently contacted him.

Recalling Davido’s response, he said, “Davido flew to Los Angeles for the video shoot and we had a great time.”

Their musical relationship has continued since then, with Davido also appearing on “Only God Can Save Me” from Adekunle Gold’s Fuji album.

Friendship extends beyond music

Beyond recording songs together, the two Nigerian music stars have also made surprise appearances during each other’s performances.

Adekunle Gold’s comments offered further insight into the friendship between the singers, which he portrayed as one built on mutual respect and genuine support rather than music alone.
