It was a day of multiple attacks. But troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA got there first.
In three separate interventions on Sunday, 17 August 2026, the Joint Task Force North West foiled terrorist abduction attempts, rescued civilians, and defused a deadly bomb planted along a major road in Bukkuyum Local Government Area.

“These successful interventions underscore the vigilance, responsiveness and determination of Operation FANSAN YAMMA troops in protecting lives, securing communities and keeping major routes safe from terrorist activities,” the statement read.
The Command reassured residents that operations will continue across the Joint Operations Area to “deny terrorist elements the freedom to threaten innocent citizens.”
It also urged the public to remain vigilant and provide “timely and credible information on suspicious activities to security forces.”
