Rodri Lands in Barcelona Ahead of £65.4m Move from Man City and Declares ‘We’re Going for Everything that Comes Our Way’

Rodri has addressed gathered media after landing in Barcelona ahead of finalising his £65.4million move from Manchester City.

The Spain captain said: ‘I’m happy to be here; it’s been a few intense days, and I’m thrilled to be here.

‘Playing for Barcelona is a dream. We’re going for the Champions League and everything else that comes our way.’

He will have a medical tomorrow ahead of being officially unveiled potentially on Wednesday.

Rodri will sign a four-year contract until 2030, just a month after he captained Spain to World Cup glory. After a seven-year spell with City, he will now return to his homeland.

He agreed to join Barcelona two weeks ago after informing rivals Real Madrid he no longer wished to join them.

The opening offers, however, fell well below City’s demands for £68million.

Discussions have been ongoing with Barca now reaching City’s valuation.

He flew to Spain on Monday evening and will now progress with the process of officially becoming a Barcelona player. 

Rodri returned to Manchester from his break after winning the World Cup on Thursday, taking a Ryanair flight from Madrid to Liverpool but was not involved in today’s Community Shield defeat by Arsenal.

City now intend to press ahead with their move for Ayyoub Bouaddi from Lille but still want another midfielder.
